I had a nice giggle at your Cillian Murphy reference 😄. I love how he lives life on his own terms, and is still recognised and appreciated for his craft.

I also think that there is so much power is sharing, especially how it helps to articulate one’s thoughts into words. The flip side of sharing/over sharing for the intention of seeking validation-that’s something I think many people struggle with.

You reminded me of exactly how I’m reframing my thoughts around sharing in general esp. on LI.

I prefer sharing certain things with certain people. I don’t need the social media world to know every thing

Ok, this Im not trying to write a newsletter here hahah. I enjoyed reading this one, I felt like you were speaking to me. 😆💛

Heeeeey, what a relief to read that my Cillian Murphy reference landed with you, Vanessa.

100% with you. Sharing can become really fast a need for external validation. I realised I fell into the trap when I started thinking "Is this interesting enough to be shared?", and "Is this professional, can I share it?".

Watch out for Substack—spend enough time here, and you'll get the writing bug, and that newsletter will look like a delicious idea! I'll be there cheering for you!

Another perspective that plays out: is sharing done by typing and reading, by talking and listening / watching...? More on that by David Abram here: https://wildethics.org/why-oral-culture/

I am tucking each word really close to my heart. THANK YOU!

I noticed this time, how helpful it was to not write in one go. I'm so used to short-format (thanks to social media), where I type, and share, and gone is it.

Now here, as I experiment with longer format, I realised that "marinating" over a piece of writing really helps with the storytelling bit you mention.

So often, I re-read it, and I notice small things that might come across clearer, or might incapsulate the essence of what I am trying to say better. It's fascinating!

Anyway, thank you, friend! It means a lot.💛

Thank you for the warm appreciation words, Jade.

It's true, this topic is brewing and I've read so many honest reflections by other people too.

Feels a bit like an awareness of the choices we have, and the choices that were imposed on us. And a little fist in the air, a little rebellion, to play by our own rules.
